How to Seed using USB disks to PeaSoup

PeaSoup provide the option to create a seed of data for the Veeam cloud connect. This will help customers with lower bandwidth that would like to have an offsite copy of their Veeam backups so that they do not need to initially copy all their data over the internet.

  • USB hard drive with enough storage space for backup data
  • Veeam v8.0 or higher
  • Our reference guide to setup the cloud repository

To start the seed, an initial backup copy job has to be created which points to local storage rather than cloud storage.

Add the virtual machines

The next step is to choose the local repository (either the temporary USB location or a temporary created repository on local server disk)

Once the job is created and has run successfully, you can disable the copy job

When the job is disabled you can start copying the data (VBK and VBM files) to the USB disk or if on the USB disk disconnect the disk.

Send the disk off via courier to:

PeaSoup Hosting c/o vXtream

Fourth Floor

260-266 Goswell Road

Once sent please create a support ticket via the URL: with the tracking number of the courier. This ticket will be used to update you when the disk is received and seeded onto the PeaSoup environment.

When the data is seeded into the PeaSoup Environment you need to rescan the cloud repository (right click backup copy job)

Once scanned successfully click close

Once the repository is scanned the backup copy job needs to point towards the cloud repository rather than the local repository. Edit the backup copy job and set the target to the PeaSoup cloud.

A job may need to be mapped again, this can be done at the target configuration of the backup copy job, select map backup and choose the backup job which holds the virtual machines that are copied to the cloud.
